In pursuit of institutional partnerships with a view to providing the Saudi public and private sectors with top alternative dispute resolution professionals, SCCA Academy has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Expenditure & Projects Efficiency Authority (EXPRO). The MOU establishes channels for the two parties to cooperate in training Saudi talent to practice ADR in accordance with the best international standards by designing and putting on a package of training programs in commercial arbitration and commercial mediation for the benefit of EXPRO.
The MOU signing ceremony was held at the headquarters of the Saudi Center for Commercial Arbitration (SCCA), under whose umbrella SCCA Academy operates. SCCA Director of Professional Development Mr. Munif bin Salem Bajamil signed on behalf of SCCA Academy as its General Supervisor, while EXPRO Executive Director of the General Directorate of Law Prof. Majid bin Abdullah al-Turki signed on the agency’s behalf.
Under the MOU, SCCA Academy will design and put on training packages for EXPRO employees consistent with its needs, thus enhancing the employees’ capabilities in the practice of commercial arbitration and commercial mediation. It will also allocate seats to EXPRO in the package of training courses organized by SCCA Academy. The MOU also opens the door for EXPRO to sponsor the activities of both SCCA and SCCA Academy, such as conferences, seminars, workshops, and so on.
This cooperation comes amid SCCA Academy and EXPRO efforts to advance the professional practice of ADR in Saudi Arabia and produce national professionals in arbitration, mediation, and forms of ADR by holding professional, specialized training and education programs. These programs provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to practice forms of ADR such as arbitration and mediation, are offered through international partnerships, and are led by elite experts in the industry.
